I love pick up lines. I know they don’t work, but I love watching guys try anyway. The other day I saw this guy walk up to a woman and say, “Have you ever put your foot in your mouth?” She said, “Yeah, everyone does, occasionally.” Then he says, “Have you ever put my foot in your mouth?”

Why that didn’t work, well, I’ll never understand.

While searching for a random subject generator, I found one aimed at foreigners to help them understand English sentence structures. Or at least, I think that’s what it’s about. I didn’t bother reading too much into it. Anyway, here is the link:

Alright, now the interesting observation. One of the randomly generated sentences that I received read as follows: “I steal things.” These are intended for foreigners, correct?

Imagine, if you will, a foreigner picking up this handy phrase and using it in daily situations. Let’s say that our foreign friend pops into a convenient store for a drink. He then tells the cashier, “I steal things,” and gives a big grin. Fantastic. A police officer passes by, asks if our foreigner is alright. To this he replies, “Yes. I steal things.”

Another great sentence was, “That guard fed a baby.” Right, what was this man guarding? Potentially a prison. What did that baby do? Maybe he steals things.

“That bus driver paints a picture…” of the screaming passengers as the bus veers into traffic?

Oh, fun with the English language.
